Daddy’s Army was born from lived experience—an echo of survival, resilience, humour, and the unshakable bonds we form when the world tries to silence us.
Inspired by the classic Dad’s Army and reimagined through a queer, modern lens, this dramedy brings together a brigade of LGBTQ+ misfits—each one shaped by real-life stories of rejection, trauma, triumph, and transformation. The play isn’t just about queer life; it is queer life—messy, magical, heart-breaking, and hilarious.
Each episode draws from the writer’s own journey—navigating neurodivergence, identity, family estrangement, homelessness, and ultimately, the power of found family. These characters are not fiction. They are fragments of truth dressed in sequins and steel-toe boots.
The inspiration was never to tell a “coming out” story or offer neat moral lessons—but to create a space where joy and pain could coexist. Where drag queens can dismantle shame with a glitter cannon. Where the trauma of the past is honoured, but not given the final word. Where laughter becomes a form of resistance, and love—chosen, chaotic, and real—is the beating heart of every scene.
Daddy’s Army is a tribute.
To those who’ve had to fight to be seen.
To the unsung. The misunderstood. The fabulous.
To anyone who's ever found family in unexpected places.
